Sean is a Professor of Finance at Macquarie University. He has been involved in the cryptocurrency ecosystem since 2015, when he became involved with mining, validating, arbitrage and researching the financial aspects of blockchains and DeFi. His paper Sex, drugs, and bitcoin: How much illegal activity is financed through cryptocurrencies? was the first finance paper analyzing cryptocurrencies to be published in a Top-3 finance journal, and has been cited over 1,500 times. He has published over 10 peer-reviewed papers in cryptocurrency markets, and has been teaching courses in Cryptocurrencies since 2020.
