This degree prepares graduates for a broad range of customer service, general management, and marketing roles across organizations of different sizes. It also provides a foundation for advanced study, including MBA and law degree pathways.
Yes. UNT is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, and the G. Brint Ryan College of Business is accredited by AACSB.
A prior general business background is not required, and work experience is not necessary for success in the program. Applicants who do not meet the published admission standards are considered through an individual review process.
Applicants who do not meet the standard admission requirements are reviewed individually, and additional documentation may be requested before a final decision is made. Official transcripts are required after application and must be sent to UNT Admissions according to the instructions provided here.
International applicants must demonstrate English proficiency through an approved pathway, such as qualifying citizenship, prior study in an approved English-speaking setting, an accepted exam score, or completion of UNT’s Intensive English Language Institute level 6. Accepted minimum scores include Duolingo 100, TOEFL 79, IELTS 6.0, or APTE 53.
Courses are delivered in an asynchronous format with weekly deadlines, and students may also participate in synchronous virtual sessions and office hours. Courses run in 8-week terms, and students should plan for about 18 hours of study per week for each course.
Tuition is $330 per credit hour for most students, and the degree requires 120 credit hours. The application fee is $75 for domestic applicants and $85 for international applicants. Tuition payments are due by the start of classes each semester according to UNT Student Accounting deadlines, so students do not need to pay the full degree cost upfront.
The degree requires a minimum of 120 credit hours. Students may take up to 9 credit hours, or three classes, during each 8-week session, with advisor support to help determine an appropriate course load.
Online students learn from the same faculty as on-campus students and have access to online office hours. They can pursue internships, request a student ID card, use on-campus facilities, participate in networking and mentoring opportunities, and attend graduation in person or through virtual recognition. Under certain circumstances, students may also transfer from the online program to the on-campus counterpart after meeting with an advisor.
