Excellent course. The lectures and accompanying textbook and examples really helped to reinforce the material. Dr. Chasnov is a great teacher, and I plan to take more courses from him

Previously to some extent I studied matrix algebra as a part of other math topics. I found this course a concise and very helpful review. Some methods introduced are life-saving.

Mathematics without theory, without demonstrations... we teach you that a matrix is an array and a vector is a column. We'll tell you how to find the kernel of an endomorphism without telling you about endomorphisms. You'll know how to calculate a determinant, but you won't know what a determinant is. On the other hand, you will know how to use it to diagonalize a matrix and then calculate the power of that matrix. If you're an engineer with a minimum of mathematical education, this MOOC will be a game of calculations to pass the time. For those who don't have a minimum level in mathematics, then I think it will be difficult to understand, especially as the courses are rather brief. One good note: there's a PDF support! I point this out because there are too many MOOCs that don't make the effort to develop one.

Don't get me wrong the course has a lot of interesting contents and it's well structured and the instructor is quite good at teaching, but this course shouldn't be called "Matrix Algebra" this is a basic Linear Algebra course and you won't find any topic related to Matrix Algebra courses taught in universities. You won't find stuff such as Jordan Canonical Forms, Sylvester's law of inertia, Spectral Theorem, Other Matrix Decompositions, Generalized Eigenvectors, etc, etc. Anyway the course was great and I remembered few things that are important.

The course is well designed, Dont worry if you do not have previous algebra background. You will get everthing as the course proceed.

I had hoped to explore some additional linear algebra topics, but this course was of little use to me. (Poor explanation, poor instructional methods.) I couldn't follow simple examples as he explained them. Of all the linear algebra resources I've used thus far, compared to Youtube and various educational web pages, the content from this course was the worse, least helpful I've viewed. Those instructional content found elsewhere were very helpful.

the teacher wasnt really specific on how he got some of his values regardless that we should know some of the values or how to get them his job as a teacher is to explain how he got them his teaching was very sporadic and inconsistent although i was able to figure most of it out i did have trouble with some of the quizzes
